SSD pricing as of October 2012

It is 2012 and I am still using spinning platters in my computers. I know, I know, this is hell. The good news is, SSD prices have gone down significantly and the sweetspot in terms of dollar per GB is now around 250GB. It is still a tad low for a workstation loaded with a bunch of specialized softwares and virtual machines but it should be enough for the average user. If you've been holding off buying an SSD, there is no reason to do so anymore.

The data above was pulled from newegg.ca on Thursday October 19th 2012. Comparing the different size offerings for a given series shows a sweetspot around 250GB. The fixed cost of selling an SSD (material, controller, administration fees, packaging and so on) is really killing the price per GB value of smaller drives.
